This was really eye opening. There’s been enough tests now to show that the Sony FDR-X3000 is stable, but I never realized how incredibly stable it was until I compared it to the DJI Osmo and GoPro Hero 4 Black. I made a ghetto rig with all cameras on it, and gave it ago. The Osmo is the “best” of course, but it’s not an action cam and shouldn’t really be compared-but we’ve gotta look at something right? The edges are a little shaky, but not bad at all compared to the vimit causing GoPro.
All cameras were used in 4k30 mode and zero editing was done for color, stabilization, or zooming. Head to head shots had things trimmed a little bit, but there was no cropping. What you see in the video is what you get. You can expect this to be pretty close to the footage an “average person” gets while at events and such.
You could increase the stable look with additional cropping and editing, but this provides an excellent visual of what to expect.
